2014 Bridgestone Winter Classic in the Big House
The National Hockey League has announced the highly anticipated return of the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic to be played on New Years Day in 2014. The Detroit Red Wings will face off with longtime rivals the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Big House in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is anticipated this event will set a world record for attendance at a hockey game.
This exciting news comes on the brink of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs and after an extended lockout and cancellation of half the 2012 – 2013 regular season games, including the 2013 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic.
“We are excited that hockey is back and that fans are anticipating the upcoming Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic is our marquis event in our NHL partnership and we look forward to showcasing Bridgestone technology to the millions of hockey fans leading up to the game.”
Bridgestone has maintained title sponsorship of the Winter Classic for the last five consecutive games, becoming five of the six most-watched regular season games in the U.S. in the past 37 years. Bridgestone is the Official Tire of the NHL and the NHLPA.
