Biography of Bridgestone Winter Driving School’s Mark Cox: A Driver for Every Surface

Mark Cox is currently a precision driver, stunt driver and competitor in the highly competitive United States Rally arena. In a sport where only one half to two thirds of the entrants is even expected to make it to the finish line, Cox has secured many podium finishes.

Cox began racing motorcycles, snowmobiles and karts as a teenager.  Later he moved to dirt-track stock cars. After spending several years as a professional skier, he re-entered the motorsports world via the Renault Ice Racing Challenge from 1983 - 1985, achieving top finishes each year. Since 1983 he has raced a wide variety of vehicles both on- and off-road, in almost every condition imaginable.

As a driving coach at the Bridgestone Winter Driving School since 1984 (and serving as General Manager from 1988 – 1992 and Director since 1992), Cox has been instrumental in developing the most cutting-edge techniques for low traction driving used today. He also coaches performance rally, racing and military mission training programs in addition to coaching at special events.

Cox leads a team of driving professionals with years of experience in many facets of motorsports. He has personally coached FBI agents, U.S. Department of Justice agents, Internal Revenue Service enforcement agents, a variety of U.S. Special Warfare Development Groups, professional race drivers, stunt drivers, corporate security personnel, and private security forces.
